A bald cypress estimated age of 1500-2000 years, the largest tree in Virginia, died in a swamp SE of Richmond reported Assoc Press, Roanoke Times, Dec 7,2008.

The tree was 123 feet tall, flared base that measured 12.5 feet wide.
